Dear Deirdre,
|
The raindrops are falling in New England and in
between drops I am enjoying summer events like getting out on my
bike and dipping my toes in water. I hope you're enjoying
yourself too!
Thank you for the incredible response to my coaching
program. In addition to working with some people individually
I'll be doing a really exciting workshop I'm calling "Embodying
Your Potential: a Psycho-spiritual approach to living the life
you want to live."
More on that below.
I will also be welcoming the first group of people
who responded to the Safely
Embodied Online Community (SEOC) request for
more information onto a free telecall to give them more
specifics. I want to make sure there's an easy
transition into the SEOC for everyone
involved. If you'd like to be part of
the next group of members, let me know by responding to this email.
In the meantime, this summer ezine has:
- an
article on Movies that can open your heart and lift your
spirit
- the
practice section
- information
about the Safely Embodied Online Community
Nurture your heart - and your life,
Deirdre

Movies!
|
We all need
a good night at the movies! There's nothing better than a good
movie that opens your heart, lifts your spirit, and reminds you of
the good things in life. These movies are some of the best,
all done by independent filmakers. I'm grateful to all of
them for their joyful expression.
A movie just
out this year by friends of mine Melora Hardin and Gildart Jackson is YOU! One of my friends
who was at the pre-preview with me called it "the best movie
since Terms of Endearment." I have to agree. It's
a wonderful love story that reminds us that love never dies.
"You".
A Feature Film Directed by Melora Hardin
You is a love story. It spans 21 years, bouncing around in time,
creating a kind of family quilt that wraps around a father as he
struggles to overcome the grief of losing his beloved wife and
raise their daughter alone. A coming-of-age journey for
both the father and his daughter, You is filled with the magic of
life and love and family.
Miranda (Melora Hardin of The Office, Hannah Montana: The Movie and
17 Again) and Rawdon (Gildart Jackson of Charmed and Providence) are
meant to be - soulmates - basking in the bliss of their newborn
daughter, Quincey. But when Miranda dies suddenly, Rawdon is left
to raise Quincey on his own, and by keeping Miranda alive in his
imagination he is both helped and hindered in moving on.
Quincey as a 20 year old is played by Allison Mack
(Smallville) and the women that enter Rawdon and Quincey's lives
are played by Brenda Strong (Desperate Housewives), Amy Pietz
(Caroline in the City) and Joely Fisher ('Til Death).
YOU is a family film made by a family. Melora and Gildart are
husband and wife and the story of how they made the movie is
fascinating. Their kids are in it, their parents (both
Hollywood actors you'll recognize) are their friends who aren't in
it cooked their favorite meals and brought them to the set every
day to feed the crew! And it worked! As
Boulevard Magazine said: "Melora Hadin has given
us more than a cool indie movie... (She) uses the unthinkable to
teach us to appreciate what's in front of us."

Another
wonderful friend of mine, Cherry Norris, created and directed this
romatic fun loving movie about dating: Duty Dating
You've Got to Shop Around. True love. We all want
it. How do we get it?
If love could be bottled and sold, our painful longings would end.
"Duty Dating" is the magical film that examines this
desire and gets results. Based on the nationally acclaimed author
and lecturer, Dr. Pat Allen, "Duty Dating" provides a
template for the do's and don'ts of dating. Her standing room only
seminars provide hardcore advice.
"Duty Dating" is a tightly wrapped, hilarious romantic
comedy which parallels Dr. Pat Allen's teachings. The fundamental
principle is when seeking a life mate you must "duty
date" three people simultaneously in order to build
relationship skills. With one dating partner, you'll get too
attached; two is an either/or situation; only with the three can
you keep perspective.
CLARICE (Lauren Sinclair "Face Off," "Three
Wishes"), a successful magazine stylist, is unsuccessful in
love. She botches every potential relationship without
understanding why. Her magazine editor, DARLENE (Susan Barnes
"Nurse Betty," "Speed I & II"), who is besieged
by men, takes CLARICE to DR. HARTLEY (Lilyan Chauvin
"Universal Soldier," "Predator II"), a famous
love specialist. DR. HARTLEY tells CLARICE that in order to get
married she must "duty date" three men at the same time.
Unfortunately CLARICE must juggle many "toads" before
meeting her prince. Hilariously steering her way to the wedding
altar, CLARICE learns the road to love is paved with many
unexpected twists and turns. This heartwarming film will
appeal to everyone in their quest to find true love.

Okay! One more. Another terrific person, Jenny Phillips, heard of a good thing
and documented it in this film for all of us. Jenny
heard that a couple of vipassana meditation teachers were heading
into the deep south to teach maximum security prisioners about
vipassana meditation. Thank God Jenny followed that impulse
to document the experience! The video is enormously uplifting
in the middle of horrendous suffering. It cracked my heart
wide open.
The Dhamma Brothers tells a dramatic tale of human potential and
transformation as it closely follows and documents the stories of
the prison inmates at Donaldson Correction Facility who enter into
this arduous and intensive program. This film, with the power to
dismantle stereotypes about men behind prison bars also, in the
words of Sister Helen Prejean (Dead Man Walking), "gives you
hope for the human race." http://www.dhammabrothers.com click here to see the trailer and here to
purchase the film
And since we can never have too much of a good
thing, you might want to watch this incredibly heart warming, love
inducing movie.
Young @ Heart
Documents the true story of the final weeks of
rehearsal for the Young @ Heart Chorus in Northampton, MA whose
average age is 81. Many of the members must overcome health
adversities to participate. Their music is unexpected, going
against the stereotype of their age group, performing songs, for
example, by James Brown and Sonic Youth. Although they have
toured Eruope and sung for royalty, this account focuses on
preparing new songs, not an easy endeavor, for a concert in their
home town which succeeds in spite of several real heartbreaking
events.

BEYOND THERAPY: Live the Life You Want To Live!
(2 Day Workshop) / November 13-14, 2009 / Dublin,
Ireland
There are some people who have finished the course
of therapy they are in. They need different tools. Once
a person's internal foundation is built they want to engage with
the world in a different way. They want more!
This workshop explores how to reach for "more."
Our time together will be about creating a field of possibility to
investigate how our old patterns and beliefs continue to operate
even though we're more solid inside. The opportunity is to
stretch beyond that and ultimately to feel limitless inside, to no
longer be bound by those old patterns.
We'll be looking at how a painful history is the exact right
cauldron in which to birth who you are really meant to be in this
world.
Living in alignment with your own unique life purpose propels you
into the life you truly want to live.
If you want to experience the joy, satisfaction, incredible self
confidence and internal strength that comes from dissolving these
blocks that have kept you stuck, then by all means I'd love to have
you join me on this incredible workshop!
I can't imagine anything more fun and invigorating than helping you
explore ways to step beyond your comfort zone and have the life
that you want.
· Imagine really
deeply knowing that there's no way to live life wrong
· That you can be
free from the fears and limitations that hold you back.
That's what we'll be doing in this weekend workshop, laying the
groundwork for that possibility! I hope you come along!
It'll be fun to share this with you and have you open to yourself
in the greatest of possible ways.
